Ingredients

  • 1 large loaf of French bread (or Italian bread), halved lengthwise
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced (or 1 teaspoon garlic powder)
  • 1 cup marinara or pizza sauce
  • 1½ cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 2025 slices of pepperoni
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • ½ teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon chopped parsley (fresh or dried)
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Slice the French bread loaf in half lengthwise.
  2. In a small bowl, mix the softened butter with the minced garlic, salt, and pepper.
  3. Place the bread halves cut side up on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Spread the garlic butter evenly over each piece.
  4. Spoon the marinara or pizza sauce over the garlic butter, spreading it to cover the bread.
  5. Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese evenly over the sauce.
  6. Arrange the pepperoni slices on top of the cheese.
  7. Drizzle with olive oil if using, and sprinkle with Italian seasoning and red pepper flakes (if using).
  8. Bake for 10-15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly, and the bread is golden brown and crisp.
